Woodbury Brackett Environmental Center
Home of the Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program

The Woodbury Brackett Environmental Center was made available to the Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program, through the generous support of the Auburn Water District and the Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission. Situated on the shoreline of Lake Auburn, the 7 acre property offers many opportunities to demonstrate lake-friendly conservation practices for the public. The VLMP is developing a “Lakes Campus,” in accordance with the wishes of the late Barbara Brackett, who stipulated that her former home should be used to benefit the environment. The Campus will be a comprehensive facility that focuses on all aspects of Maine lakes, including volunteer monitoring, environmental education and research, public outreach, and the demonstration of land owner conservation practices to protect lake water quality from the effects of watershed development.
Maine Lakes Campus
The Lakes Campus at the Brackett Center includes a library, a conference room and classrooms, offices for staff, a beautiful screened meeting room that overlooks Lake Auburn, and storage facilities for equipment and vehicles. The Brackett Center is being landscaped to attract birds and wildlife, in addition to protecting water quality.
