Large-leaf Pondweed

Habitat: Floating-leaved to emergent plant community; grows in soft sediments and is sensitive to increased turbidity and disturbance from boat motors.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

· Produces large stems that emerge from black rhizomes.

· Submersed leaves are large and slightly folded

· Leaf stalks vary in length and the leaf blade has many veins

· Floating leaves are oval shaped on long stalks. Leaves have many veins and have stipules (tissue at the base of each leaf.)
