Leaf Structure: In order to identify an aquatic plant, begin by observing how the leaves are arranged on the stem. Then look carefully at a single leaf. Observe the leaf margins (outside edges) and the overall shape of the leaves. Next observe any additional features, such as flowers, fruits, and root structures.
